About this position
You work as part of the Energy & Materials Transition (EMT) unit within the Energy Supply division, collaborating with colleagues to realize a climate-neutral, reliable, and affordable energy system in the field of Solar and Wind. As a Market Manager, you lead a team of business developers focused on building and maintaining relevant networks. Your team plays a crucial role in translating external inquiries and developments into propositions from TNO. Your perspective is outward-facing. You are aware of what is happening around us. With an entrepreneurial mindset, you build relevant networks, follow market trends, and explore commercial opportunities. In doing so, you enable your team to provide solutions for issues and challenges that truly matter. You understand that these challenges are constantly evolving, and technology is developing faster than ever. You also comprehend what is required of you – to adapt and continuously adjust your leadership style to new situations. This adaptability is essential for innovation in your leadership.
What will be your role?
The ambition of the Energy Supply division is to establish a position focused on the systemic integration of various sustainable energy sources and carriers. This includes, for example, solar, wind, biomass, hydrogen, underground heat, and more. It encompasses storage options and energy infrastructure from local to international levels. The division closely collaborates with other departments within the EMT unit. Energy Supply delivers solutions at the local, regional, and national levels, working comprehensively on aspects such as costs, reliability, and impact.
You make a significant contribution to determining these propositions, both within the division and across the breadth of the EMT unit. You execute the relevant parts of the plans for your department, monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities, and adjust as needed.
You lead the sales process, account and funnel management, and after-sales. Your focus is on optimizing and professionalizing these processes. As a role model for the business developers, you inspire and motivate them to consider factors such as profit margins, risk margins, and valorization strategies. You actively contribute to a culture where talent can thrive and is motivated to achieve market objectives.

You are familiar with the innovation needs of realizing a climate-neutral, reliable, and affordable energy system. You possess knowledge of relevant expertise within the energy transition and understand how these are applied in different contexts. Thanks to your extensive experience and relevant network, you grasp the value of these technologies and know how to address challenges related to the implementation of these new technologies in a broad system.
You are capable of establishing strong relationships and partnerships with government entities, research institutions, and industries. You comprehend market trends and customer needs, understanding what the external world expects from TNO. Based on this understanding, you develop propositions aimed at delivering impact and results for our clients.
You thrive in a multidisciplinary, multinational, and gender-balanced team. As a connector, you inspire and motivate others, both within and outside the organization. You combine this with strong negotiation, networking, and insight into decision-making processes, enabling you to function effectively within complex structures.
Your focus is on achieving results, demonstrating determination to reach goals, and possessing the ability to make goal-oriented decisions.
What you bring to the table:
- Academic work and thinking level;
- Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in successfully leading market-oriented teams in an innovative and professional environment;
- Demonstrated commercial results in the energy domain and associated skills.
