What will be your role?

The Compliance Advisor conducts research on clients and partners with the aim of identifying and assessing risks in the areas of integrity, corporate social responsibility and sanction and export control (performing due diligence). Based on this information you write clear recommendations regarding the risks and (possible) mitigating measures so that the business and management can make well-considered choices. You support the business and the Export Control Officer of TNO in the field of export control, military and dual-use classification and trade sanction issues and the associated national and international trade compliance laws and regulations.

The due diligence process within TNO is in full development, a great opportunity to contribute with your knowledge and experience to the further interpretation of this process. In addition, this role offers you the opportunity to eventually grow internally in the field of compliance or sanction and export control.

Your homebase is the TNO head office in The Hague, but for an effective fulfilment of your function you are expected to regularly work at other TNO locations as well. Working from home is also possible.

The team
The Compliance Advisor is part of the Corporate Legal & Compliance (CL&C) department. The aim of this department is to support TNO in managing the legal and compliance risks in its business operations and the set-up of the organization. CL&C also fulfils a signalling and agenda-setting role with regard to compliance and legal policy and frameworks. The department consists of various experts and specialist teams. CL&C is characterized by a high degree of professionalism and by an open, collaborative atmosphere. Importance is attached to enjoying one's work and making an active contribution to the success of TNO.

What we expect from you

We are looking for a Compliance Advisor who recognizes himself in the profile below:

  • You have an education at HBO / WO level and 3 to 4 years of relevant experience;
  • You have affinity with performing due diligence on third parties and with sanction and export control compliance;
  • Strong communication skills and an excellent command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing;
  • You are proactive, organizational sensitive, a pleasant interlocutor and you think in solutions.

The selection process

The selection process comprises two interview rounds. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.

The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.

A certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.

As you will be working for clients in the domain of defence and security, a Certificate of No Objection issued by AIVD (The Dutch General Information and Security Service) is mandatory. This means you will have to undergo a security screening. Read more about security screening.
