Experienced Consultant Cyber Security in The Hague
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Experienced Consultant Cyber Security at TNO in The Hague!
About this position
Contribute to society's protection with innovative cybersecurity. Become a cybersecurity consultant at TNO. We'd love to hear from you, even if you don't fully meet the profile below.
What will be your role?
As a cybersecurity consultant at TNO, you'll never be bored. You're the linchpin, translating innovation into impact and serving as a figurehead for cybersecurity. Your field of work is vast, which suits you as a curious professional. You can contribute to innovative research projects, provide strategic advice to ministries and boardrooms, and build your own network to bring in new research assignments.
Like all TNO colleagues, you're driven by substance. Besides technological aspects, you also consider the organizational and human side of new cybersecurity innovations. You're well-informed about cybersecurity developments in both academia and the business world. You actively monitor new trends and know how to respond to them.
You enjoy developing a vision on cybersecurity and can convey it to others. You have a broad perspective on the field and make new, creative connections. Your vision enables you to bring clarity to unclear situations and steer research in the right direction.
As a figurehead for cybersecurity innovation, you'll be a familiar face among various stakeholders and organizations. Outside TNO, you participate in consortia, panels, and regularly give presentations on your subject. Within TNO, you're the point of contact for cybersecurity. You bridge the gap between the Cyber Security Technology department and other TNO departments to tackle cybersecurity challenges in their domain. Think of cybersecurity aspects in energy transition, digitization of the armed forces, and vehicle safety.
You'll be part of the Cyber Security Technologies department, where you'll find the top tier of cybersecurity in the Netherlands. Your colleagues range from junior to senior researchers. You'll work from our headquarters near The Hague Central Station, at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, or our office at the Zernike Campus in Groningen. Here, you'll find an open and supportive atmosphere and a close-knit team of intrinsically motivated colleagues.
What we expect from you
The combination of cutting-edge research, advocating innovation, and connecting people suits you as a cybersecurity consultant. Collaboration is in your DNA, whether with researchers, industry partners, or the government. Your value lies in your knowledge, vision, and the strong network you bring, allowing you to act as a connector across various markets. You thrive on new collaborations and initiating projects. Your entrepreneurial nature flourishes at TNO; you see opportunities and know how to turn them into positive outcomes.
Other qualities you'll bring:
- A relevant education, preferably at university level, in the field of (technical) mathematics, computer science/informatics, cybersecurity, or another relevant technical study.
- Knowledge of and experience with cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing public and/or private collaborations.
- A driven personality; you're intrinsically motivated to make the Netherlands safer through cybersecurity innovation.
- Proficient in English, as you'll also work with parties at the European level.

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 4.156,- and € 6.405,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180).
