Project manager sustainable mobility

Make your mark on the future of transport. Become a project manager for sustainable mobility at TNO in The Hague.

About this position

Managing innovative projects to make our road, waterway, and construction traffic cleaner and more efficient. These are your tasks as a project manager for sustainable mobility at TNO in The Hague. You will work at the forefront of technological developments, such as advanced fuel systems and new vehicle technologies. Your projects will contribute to achieving national and European climate goals, and improving air quality and the living environment.

What will be your role?

At TNO, you will manage a wide range of projects focused on practical solutions for sustainable mobility. You will be responsible for the quality, budgeting, and planning of complex, multidisciplinary projects. The projects bring together technological innovations and regulatory frameworks. They range from evaluating and validating clean technologies for new vehicles and vessels to integrating alternative fuels. Your duties will include guiding the project team and monitoring and reporting on progress. In addition, you will work closely with clients and the other project managers to ensure that our advisory reports and studies have maximum impact.

You will join the Sustainable Mobility team in the Sustainable Transport and Logistics department. There, you will work with a committed group of scientists, researchers, and project leaders with a passion for learning. We share one mission: to make tomorrow's mobility cleaner and more sustainable. To this end, we conduct both fundamental and applied research, often in collaboration with international partners and public-sector clients such as the European Commission. Our team is diverse, with a mix of young talent and experienced staff working together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and enthusiasm for sustainability.

With your proactive, systematic, and professional attitude, you deliver high-quality work based on sound methodologies, even under complex, politically sensitive circumstances. In doing so, you see the potential of unexpected situations and changes. You communicate effectively and build relationships easily, both inside and outside the organisation. Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:

  • A university Master's degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical engineering, physics, or automotive engineering.
  • A willingness to obtain IPMA certification (if you do not already have it) for effective use of our IPMA toolbox.
  • A good command of both Dutch and English, essential for communicating with Dutch-speaking and international colleagues.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 3.340,- and € 3.994,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180).
