Internship | Gut Health Communication | Business Development Internship | Help Us Spread the Science
About this position
Gut health is rapidly becoming a key priority for consumers, healthcare professionals, and industry partners. At TNO, we develop innovative research to better understand the gut microbiome and its impact on health, disease prevention, and well-being. By strengthening how we communicate these insights, we increase the visibility and societal impact of our work—helping translate complex science into accessible messages that support informed choices. In this internship, you will contribute directly to this mission by shaping communication materials that make cutting-edge gut health innovations understandable and relevant for a broad audience.
What will be your role?
In this internship, you will develop a communication plan for TNO’s Gut Health Team—defining what we publish, where, and for whom. You will translate our scientific findings into impactful content ranging from scientific updates and consumer-friendly articles to website texts, LinkedIn posts, and conference materials such as flyers or posters. You will gain hands-on experience in shaping a consistent communication strategy that strengthens the visibility of our gut-health research across multiple platforms.
You will join a multidisciplinary team of business developers, communication specialists, and scientists working on state-of-the-art in vitro models such as the i-screen® and InTESTine™, as well as experts in nutrition and microbiome science. Together, they will support you in understanding the research, drafting messages, and developing your communication skills. You will be part of an inspiring environment where science, creativity, and societal impact meet.
What we expect from you
We’re looking for an open and motivated student with a strong interest in life sciences and a creative mindset. You enjoy working proactively with different departments, are comfortable asking questions, and can structure complex information into a clear communication plan. You have a scientific and critical mindset, enabling you to understand our research and translate it into accurate, evidence-based communication materials.
You bring:
- Enrolment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in communication, life sciences, nutrition, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
- Strong writing skills and an interest in science communication.
- Ability to work independently and organize work in a structured, systematic way.
- Affinity with translating scientific content into accessible messages for different audiences with focus on Business Development.
- Experience with social media, graphic design tools, or content creation is a plus.
