Together with the Hortivation foundation, TNO has set the worldwide standard for the digital infrastructure for greenhouse horticulture. The basis for this is a common language, the Common Greenhouse Ontology. In addition, the Hortivation Hub has been developed, a kind of universal plug for the safe and easy exchange of data between parties.
TNO is developing new applications in the field of data-driven greenhouse construction and data-driven cultivation on top of this infrastructure. This allows greenhouse suppliers to provide new services such as guarantees on cultivation performance.

The Data Driven Building program is aimed at improving and making the greenhouse design more sustainable. Sometimes conflicting control settings are generated by the autonomous greenhouse systems. Thanks to GAIA, these control settings are coordinated in real-time, so that these smart systems connect seamlessly, and do not work against each other.
