Topics in Pulsation, Vibration and Noise Control

Three-day workshop
The Flow and Structural Dynamics Department (PULSIM) of TNO Science and Industry in Delft now organizes this workshop twice a year as a result of growing interest from the process industry.

The anouncement for the next workshop will be published in our Agenda. A training for the Pulsim software can also be arranged on demand. If you would like more information about the available options please feel free to get in contact with us. Below you can see the topics that we present during our workshops.

Who should attend?

The course is intended for project engineers in piping and rotating equipment as well as for mechanical engineers who are involved in the design, operation, optimisation or maintenance of process installations. Both participants from operating companies, engineering contractors and equipment manufacturers are invited. Focus will be on engineering application of the theory.

Course content

  • Fundamentals of pulsating flow
  • Pulsation sources
  • Pulsation damper design
  • Pulsation analysis of process installations
  • Mechanical response analysis
  • Pulsation effects on compressor efficiency
  • Pulsation impact on instrumentation
  • Acoustic and mechanical design rules for pipe systems
  • Flow-induced pulsations, noise and vibrations
  • Hands-on experience with pulsation and vibration simulation software
  • Pulsation and mechanical analysis according to API 618 (5th edition)
