Joint Innovation New Urban Mobility
TNO is actively searching partners for the eco system to work jointly on this program.
Impact of New Urban Mobility
City populations grow consistently, leading to scarcity of space, healthy environments and energy. Meanwhile, digitalization, automation and electrification will affect urban mobility and logistics profoundly. We envision a platform to enable public authorities and private companies to introduce new mobility and logistics concepts, such as MaaS, in a manner that balances accessibility, livability, sustainability and equity for communities.
Joint Innovation Program
Therefore, TNO is setting up the Joint Innovation Initiative for New Urban Mobility. In this initiative public bodies work together with industry and research institutes, the so-called ‘triple helix’, to jointly develop and share knowledge on this major transition in mobility. Together we work on technological developments, innovations, demonstrators and prototypes for innovative solutions in the field of New Urban Mobility.
In order to enable public and private parties to get a grip om the introduction of New Urban Mobility, TNO has identified a number of scientific and engineering challenges. Predicting the uptake of new mobility requires understanding human choice behavior. Fast calculation models to interactively simulate the impact of changing mobility and spatial planning on livability, accessibility, sustainability and equality. Therefore, supporting enabling technologies such as distributed data storage, high performance computing (HPC), big data analysis using AI and IoT platform technologies are being developed. Together with national and international partners in the triple helix, we develop a joint roadmap, bridging the gap between early innovations and market ready solutions.
