Strengthening the team

‘As recruiter I take a strategic approach: I do not just fill vacancies, I strengthen a team. I find it interesting to look ahead with hiring managers. What does the team need? Which candidate can complement you?

This was the reason I decided to join TNO myself. Previously, I recruited people for financial service providers and the healthcare sector, among others, or the focus was on commercial drivers. At TNO, I am helping to further develop the organisation.

What is more, I am constantly learning new things about the geology of the Netherlands. I also see that as personal development: I am gaining knowledge here that I cannot find anywhere else.’

Honest

‘As a recruiter, I conduct interviews with candidates together with the hiring manager. During these interviews, I aim to provide a clear picture of the organisation and gain a good understanding of the candidate. My advice to candidates: a match must be mutual, therefore, be yourself so that we can discover together whether we are a good fit.

Questions I often ask: what are your expectations, your motivation? Where do you see yourself in the future? Someone may be a good fit right now, but our ambitions for the future must also match. I think it is important to be honest about this in my advice to hiring managers and to candidates.’
