Contribute to the world of tomorrow as a project manager
Contribute to finding solutions to societal challenges, such as the energy transition, the digital transformation, or our health and safety. Can you envision it? As a TNO project manager, you will use applied research to work on pragmatic, tangible solutions.
What do you think about using external walls as an energy generator, due to their heat-absorbing coating? Games to train soldiers for missions? Or machine learning for the early detection of type 2 diabetes in children? Whichever field you choose, at TNO your technical background and project management skills will always make a difference.

Your role as a TNO project manager
You manage several projects simultaneously. For each project, you identify the requirements behind every research question. You also build up a picture of the contexts and interests of the parties involved. You organise and plan the research, monitor its progress and budget, and assume responsibility for the results. These range from feasibility studies and proofs-of-concept to prototypes.
Occasionally, you work for one client. At other times, you lead a project with a number of stakeholders. At TNO, we bring together businesses, public authorities, and knowledge institutions. Your managerial skills will therefore be called upon to ensure that everyone is on the same page. In addition, you frequently coach diverse and multidisciplinary teams of researchers and experts. Because collectively, you achieve results that matter!
As a TNO project manager, you have a daily impact
Working at TNO means making an impact. Whether you’re involved in developing innovations for the Ministry of Defence, fighting cybercrime, helping the maritime industry and the built environment become more sustainable, innovating in healthcare or the digital identity of the future, or promoting the circular economy.
As a project manager, you’re in good company and you’ll find fellow project managers throughout the organisation. See for yourself the impact that other TNO employees have on society, as project or programme managers.
