TNO was founded by law in 1932 as the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research. As an organisation governed by public law, we maintain an independent position made up of boards, units, and a services organisation.
Meet our Executive Board, Supervisory Board, Council for Defence Research and six units.

Executive Board
The TNO Executive Board is charged with managing the organisation and has full authorisation to do so insofar as this is not ascribed to other bodies according to the TNO Act.
Supervisory Board
The TNO Supervisory Board is responsible for supervising the policy of the Board of Management and advising them.

Council for Defence Research
The Council for Defence Research determines the policy regarding defence research, with due observance for the responsibilities of the Executive Board.
Units
From our units, we create value on both a societal and economic level through innovations across six domains.
