Data Engineer | The Hague
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Data Engineer at TNO in The Hague!
About this position
You will work with a team of data engineers on the TNO Data Platform, the foundation for data‑driven decision making within TNO. You make sure we deliver a stable platform with supportive tooling and reliable data- and CI/CD pipelines. You will also collaborate closely with other departments to guarantee effective cooperation and to share knowledge within and beyond the team.
What will be your role?
TNO Data & Analytics consists of four teams: data analysts, data scientists, data stewards, and data engineers. You will join the data engineering team, which is currently building a new, TNO‑wide data platform that will serve as the backbone for all our analyses, dashboards, predictive models, and other data products. You will help design modular components and scale this platform for internal users across TNO, ensuring that onboarding new teams is as smooth as possible.
Your responsibilities include onboarding new data sources, automating data transformations (ETL/ELT), building supportive tooling (such as CI/CD and Python packages), implementing data security & governance, and managing cloud infrastructure.
In addition to developing the TNO Data Platform, you will work closely with data analysts, scientists, and stewards within Data & Analytics, as well as with other teams (such as IT), to improve the quality of the data platform and data products, and to build new data‑driven solutions.
You think
- beyond what is needed today;
- about your daily work as part of a bigger picture;
- that practical obstacles and procedures are challenges, not blockers.
You are
- curious;
- strong at identifying connections;
- always interested in the latest technologies;
- a team player who enjoys collaborating with different disciplines within and outside the D&A organization.
You understand
- that some of our data is confidential;
- that different audiences require different communication styles;
- that “being done” is sometimes better than “being perfect”.
