Gerard van der Laan
As a Programme Manager, Gerard is responsible for the portfolio of the System Solutions & Environment division, focusing on a sustainable energy system and a circular economy. The knowledge, scenarios, tools and models developed within the programme enable policymakers and strategists to develop effective policies and future‑proof strategies.
Gerard van der Laan is an experienced Technology and Innovation Professional with a strong track record in the energy industry and holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Groningen. Gerard joined TNO as a Senior Scientist, where he led scientific research and knowledge development in the field of circular plastics within TNO. He subsequently served for six years as Research Manager Circularity & Sustainability Impact, with overall responsibility for a research group addressing key societal challenges related to sustainability assessment and circularity at TNO.
