Internship | Building an execution engine for the Fischer Technik Training Factory and integrate it using ComMA
About this position
At TNO-ESI, we build methodologies and tools to support companies with their challenges. One of these challenges is system integration. Component Modeling & Analysis (ComMA) is an approach for designing component-based systems. These systems are modeled in a Domain Specific Language (DSL). The quality of the DSL instance can be checked before artefacts are generated. ComMA [0] can generate MS Word documents, proxy code, runtime monitors and model-based tests. In this assignment we will focus on the modelling of components, on the model-based testing of modelled components before integrating them into a system, and on the runtime monitoring for debugging issues during or after system integration. In this assignment, we want to showcase the build of an activity execution engine that can execute system scenarios on the digital or physical Fischer Technik Training Factory. The executor will be a distributed application consisting of multiple components. These components will be interacting with each other using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI interfaces. We want to model-based test and runtime monitor these components using ComMA.
What will be your role?
In this assignment, you will model the Fischer Technik Training Factory executor using ComMA and manually write the components of the executor to make the system work. The idea is that you model-based test the individual components using ComMA and monitor the execution of these components when deployed on the target system.
The following steps are proposed:
- Familiarize yourself with the context, the Fischer Technik Training Factory, and ComMA.
- Make a design for the Fischer Technik Training Factory execution engine using multiple components.
- Model the components with their interfaces in ComMA.
- Manually implement the components.
- Model-based test the individual component using ComMA.
- Runtime monitor the components deployed on the Fischer Technik Training Factory.
- Demo the ComMA models and the execution on the platform.
- Report on your findings in the form of a report and presentation.
What we expect from you
- Experience with Java.
- Working independently.
