What will be your role?
What will you do?
You will investigate modern methods of monitoring the quality of work and work-related outcomes like health, injuries, productivity and innovation of the Dutch working population through advanced web-mining techniques. Specifically, your tasks will involve extracting relevant data from various online sources including Google searches, social media platforms, and online media. You will utilize your knowledge of information retrieval, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI to analyze and interpret the collected data. Depending on your exact start date, the specifics of your internship project will be further defined in consultation with your supervisors. Throughout your internship, you will collaborate closely with our experienced consultants, researchers, and project leaders.

What we expect from you
What do we ask of you?
- WO-master level with a background in Information Retrieval, Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.
- Demonstrable interest in web-mining, NLP, Generative AI, and their practical application in health and workplace contexts.
- Proactive attitude: you show initiative, contribute ideas, and actively seek learning opportunities and professional growth.
- Social and communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively collaborate with professionals from diverse disciplinary backgrounds.
- Knowledge of programming in Python is a must. Knowledge of NLP frameworks and libraries (e.g., spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face) is a significant advantage.

The selection process

Important to be aware of before applying:
- Before the start of the internship, the internship agreement from TNO needs to be signed. For students at a college or university based in the Netherlands, TNO uses the UNL-template (supplemented with a number of specific agreements from TNO). For students of foreign and MBO educational institutions, the TNO internship agreement applies. TNO does not sign any other internship agreements.
- Before the start of the internship, the educational institution will need to confirm in writing that:
- 1) you are enrolled at the educational institution during the internship, and;
- 2) the internship takes place as part of the programme of the study.
- The confirmation of educational institution takes place by signing the UNL template or forms prepared by TNO.
- Interns at TNO must be in possession of a Dutch residential address at the start of the internship. Performance of internship activities from abroad is not possible.
