What will you be doing?
You will form part of a small team within a public/private funded European research project. Your major role will be to contribute to extending practical system architecting methodologies with principles aimed at embedding security and privacy aspects.
By closely cooperating with customers and your colleagues, you will build on Model Based System Architecting (MBSA) method developed within ESI (TNO) group.
The targeted security and privacy principles will be applicable to industrial cases of ESI (TNO) partners, who act in diverse domains.
You will share your experiences and knowledge with industrial partners, present gained insights and, whenever relevant, publish results at scientific conferences.
Your future responsibilities include coordination with other professionals, such as PhD students and industrial engineers.
What do we require of you?
You have a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science at university, preferably at PhD level. You have experience in security and privacy principles. You are eager to further develop, apply, and bring those into mainstem use as part of system architecting methodologies.
You have a strong belief that working at a higher level of abstraction brings benefits to the whole product creation process for complex systems designs. You enjoy not only creating models of complex functionality but also demonstrating their value and helping others to adopt the approach. You are a goal-oriented, self-driven professional with a strong will to deliver quality results. You are curious, investigative, keen on asking questions and incorporating feedbacks. You are willing to work in a European Research environment and permanently involved in investing in networks. You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team of ESI (TNO) research fellows, industrial and academic partners, and other stakeholders. To obtain the required results, you may regularly work at the premises of the customer throughout The Netherlands.
What can you expect of your work situation?
The ESI strategic research programme focuses on the development of latest techniques for design and engineering of high-tech (embedded) systems and applications within a rapidly changing technology environment. Multi-disciplinary teams of experts of renowned (multi)national high-tech enterprises, SMEs, and leading academic research groups work together and link fundamental research results directly to industrial application. The dedicated ESI competence development programme supports system architects and industrial engineers in developing their professional skills. Overall, the ESI network represents a unique platform for open innovation that facilitates research cooperation and knowledge exchange across stakeholders.
ESI, founded in 2002 as the Embedded Systems Institute and integrated in TNO in 2013, has recently been raised to the level of Joint Innovation Centre in TNO. Since becoming part of TNO, we have grown in people and activities by about 50% in an expanding ecosystem of high-tech enterprises and national and international academic institutions. Its partners are industry-leading companies ASML, , Océ, Philips, Thales, Thermo Fisher Scientific and TNO, along with Delft University of Technology, Radboud University, Twente University and Eindhoven University of Technology.
