Internship | Demonstrating the value of Synthesis-Based Engineering on a demo system
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a [XX] at TNO in [XX]!
About this position
Complex industrial systems have control software that ensures the systems operate correctly and safely. Developing the control software for such systems is becoming increasingly challenging, partly due to the growing complexity of the systems and a shortage of engineers. With innovative methods, work can be done more efficiently, allowing engineers to create better control software in less time. Synthesis-Based Engineering (SBE) is one such method. It enables engineers to automatically generate a control model and control software from the control requirements of a system. For the adoption of this method, it is important that its value can be demonstrated in a very concrete way.
What will be your role?
TNO has acquired a demo system on which it can clearly demonstrate how various innovative methods developed by TNO work. In this assignment, you will model the system behavior of this demo system and determine the control requirements. Then, using SBE tools, you will automatically synthesize a controller, generate code, and ensure that it correctly controls the system. You will also need to handle the necessary software interfacing. Additionally, you will work on effective demos of SBE on the demo system that clearly showcase the unique value of SBE. The demo will then be used by TNO, for example at conferences, to demonstrate the value of SBE to visitors, etc. If time permits, you can also explore how the SBE demo relates to demos of other innovative methods developed by TNO that are also showcased on the same demo system.
