Technical Radar Consultant & Signal Processing Expert

Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Technical Radar Consultant & Signal Processing Expert at TNO in The Hague!

What will be your role?

Radar systems are indispensable in the modern world. Whether it's (naval) ships, drones, aviation, or satellites, radars provide a reliable view of the surroundings—day and night, and in all weather conditions.

At TNO’s Radar Technology department, we possess unique expertise across all key knowledge areas required for developing state-of-the-art radar systems: EM/antennas, RF modules, IC design, and signal processing.

If you're ready for a challenge in one of the most leading-edge environments in the world, and excited by the idea of working with experienced colleagues to translate this knowledge into solutions for our partners, then this is your opportunity!

More information about our Radar Technology department can be found at: Radar Technology or TNO Radar - YouTube.

What will you be doing?
To fully immerse yourself in the radar domain, you’ll begin with consultancy projects focused on radar coverage of low-altitude airspace for traffic and military safety.

You’ll run simulations to determine the impact of wind turbines and high-voltage pylons on radar coverage, interpret the results, and report them to the client. This work combines your knowledge of radar signal processing with strong communication skills and a clear understanding of our clients’ needs.

In addition to these consultancy projects, which help you build operational radar expertise, there’s an opportunity to grow into a radar signal processing expert.

In that role, you’ll work on the next generation of radar systems—designing, researching, evaluating, and implementing new waveforms alongside cutting-edge digital signal processing techniques. This includes detection, tracking, classification, and digital beamforming. You’ll translate complex signal processing challenges into well-defined mathematical methodologies. Furthermore, you’ll quantify platform-dependent performance differences and determine optimal processing strategies for newly developed sensor concepts.
