About this position
As a Biomedical Research Technician in the Metabolic Health Research department, you will contribute to a variety of projects. These projects primarily focus on (cell) biological questions, such as liver metabolism of drugs or intestinal absorption of pharmaceuticals and nutritional ingredients during health and disease. To achieve this, you will work with various preclinical laboratory models (both in vitro and ex vivo) based on (stem) cells, organ tissues, and/or whole organs, as well as related analytical techniques. Research is conducted within a close-knit team of professionals in an open and informal culture.
What will be your role?
Your main responsibilities as a Biomedical Research Technician include:
- Preparing and performing experiments using various techniques, including tissue culture, cell culture (transfected cell lines, stem cells, spheroids/organoids, epithelial assays), organ perfusion systems, organ-on-chip technology, confocal fluorescence microscopy, qPCR, ELISA, etc.
- Analyzing, processing, and presenting experimental data in close collaboration with scientists and project leaders who hold final responsibility for the projects.
- Advising and collaborating with scientists on the techniques to be used and on the design of procedures and analytical methods.
- Keeping up to date with developments in the field and identifying new opportunities.
- Ensuring quality standards in the execution of work.
What we expect from you
We are looking for a Biomedical Research Technician who recognizes themselves in the following:
- You are a highly motivated cell biology/biochemistry (research) analyst with a passion for working in the lab and a desire to develop in this area long-term.
- Experience with cell culture and organoids is an advantage.
- You hold an HLO or WO degree, preferably with a background in cell biology, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry.
- You enjoy working with colleagues on state-of-the-art solutions.
- You have a curious mindset focused on the shared goal of developing innovative solutions applicable in industry.
- Experience with automation/scaling up throughput in cell culture is a plus.
- You have strong oral and written communication skills in English; Dutch is an advantage.
- A driver’s license (category B) is a plus.
