Developer Human Technology Interaction | Leiden
Want to make your mark on our time? Come work as a Developer Human Technology Interaction at TNO in Leiden
About this position
People are increasingly confronted with technology in their work. How can humans and technology collaborate effectively? The Sustainable Productivity and Employability expertise group develops, implements, and evaluates human-centered technology for various professions. The aim of this technology is to enable people to work sustainably, healthily, and productively. We also use the same technology to give people with work limitations a better chance at employment.
What will be your role?
As a Developer Human Technology Interaction, you will work in a multidisciplinary team on various research and development projects together with companies. The goal is to develop new applications that help employees at work. For example, you will make it easier to create (AR) work instructions using smart algorithms. Together with experts such as movement scientists and psychologists, you ensure that this technology meets the needs of employees. The solutions are then tested in the lab or in a business environment.
For example, we work on robots that collaborate with humans. We conduct research into exoskeletons to support employees in physically demanding jobs. Additionally, we use AI and semantic models to collect data and convert it into usable information. We develop solutions to assist employees with digital work instructions via tablets, projections, 2D screens, or AR glasses, and we investigate the effects of these technologies on supporting operators. We collaborate both within and outside TNO to make this possible. Through experiments, pilots at companies, and workshops, we explore what is possible.
As a Developer Human Technology Interaction, you will apply your skills for industry and society.
You will also visit clients to gain a good understanding of the problem statement. Based on this problem description, you are uniquely capable of proposing several ideas or concepts. You then know how to turn these into a working prototype or product.
Furthermore, you will contribute to writing project proposals, reports, and publications in both Dutch and English. You help transfer knowledge to practice and organise meetings with companies.
What we expect from you
- You have completed a relevant university degree. Ideally, we would like to see design, human-machine interaction, and programming in your background.
- You have experience with Python. If you are also familiar with languages/libraries such as C#, Java, TypeScript, Pandas, or SQL/NoSQL, that is highly appreciated.
- You have experience with frameworks such as Vue.js, FastAPI, or Node.js.
- You have previously turned a concept into a working prototype. This could have been during your studies, an internship, or as a hobby. Including an example or portfolio is highly valued.
