Measurement Engineer Wind Energy | Petten
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Measurement Engineer Wind Energy at TNO in and Petten!
About this position
Would you like to contribute to innovative measurement solutions for the next generation of wind turbines and the energy system as a whole? Are you handy and not afraid to get your hands dirty? Then join TNO Wind Energy as an Measurement Engineer Wind Energy.
What will be your role?
Being a measurement engineer within the wind energy research group, you will use your electro technical background on a day to day basis. For this you do not stay inside, nor always with two feet on the ground.
If you get excited by the idea of testing new wind turbine prototypes to map the loads and power of the turbine, or by installing sensors to monitor birds and bats around wind turbines, then this is the job for you! Together with the Lead Measurement Engineer, you work in the campaigns from beginning to end.
Starting with the quotation phase, making a measurement plan, preparation of hardware and software in the lab and installation in the field, analyzing the measurement data and reporting out the results. To upkeep the high quality standards of our lab, you are also expected to support the team in various lab management activities, for example calibrating measurement equipment, ordering components, organizing equipment and many other things to keep the lab running smoothly. All these activities, make the job very diverse and ensure a healthy balance between outdoor and indoor work.
What we expect from you
You are proactive towards picking up tasks and have good communicative skills. This is important as you are always working together or climbing up a wind turbine with a colleague. Next to that, a very important aspect of the work is safety. You are aware of the risks and take all the safety aspects of the job very seriously. And since work also depends on weather conditions, and the weather not always sticks to a nine-to-five mentality, you are required to be flexible. But that works both ways: you are given plenty of freedom in your working hours.
Next to that, we are looking for someone with the following education, experience and capabilities:
- A MBO or HBO-degree (Applied Sciences) in electro technical engineering or related field;
- Strong affinity with measurement equipment, including sensor installation, programming and calibration;
- Able to work independently, pragmatic and good problem solver;
- Medically fit and not afraid to work at heights and in confined spaces (e.g. wind turbine blades);
- Willingness to travel to customer sites (usually within the Netherlands, sometimes also abroad).
What you'll get in return
Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 3.500,- and € 4.800,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.
TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:
- Flexible working hours, the possibility to work parttime (32 of 36 hours) and the possibility of working from home.
- 33 days annual leave on a full-time basis.
- An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
- The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
- An employer that values and encourages diverse talent, with initiatives like the Female Leadership Program, our Rainbow Community and round tables on inclusion topics.
- We offer a comprehensive and flexible mobility plan that also includes full compensation for public transportation for commuting and business travel.
- Great social events with your team and other TNO colleagues. That’s how you will get to know a lot of people really quickly.
- A good pension scheme.
