About this position

The Senior Consultant Innovation & Architecture is a seasoned expert who acts as a bridge between technical innovation, business strategy, and client needs, particularly in a High-Tech industry setting. This profile blends deep domain knowledge with consulting skills to drive transformation, efficiency, and supports organizational change. You will have a unique opportunity to have impact on how the high-tech equipment industry, Energy industry, Mission Critical Infra and Defense overcomes the complexity issues in their products and systems through consultancy projects at TNO-ESI. In such projects, TNO-ESI creates impactful and industrially applicable system engineering, architecting and design methodologies.

What will be your role?

In line with their mission statement, TNO-ESI has the mission and ambition to embed their research results (systems engineering methodologies, incl. tools, expertise, etc.) into the industry. By doing this at a growing scale, TNO-ESI aims to grow their impact and to deliver a positive contribution to the national earning power in the Netherlands and contribute to the big societal challenges that need efficient and effective engineering (of digital systems).

The consultant that TNO-ESI is looking for will contribute to such programs, through participation in consultancy projects but also leading our consultancy projects when needed. The consultant will also connect to our research program to bring new insights from consultancy projects into our research programs.

This includes responsibilities like:

  • Strategic Advisory: Partnering with senior leadership to advise on strategic direction supporting twin transformation as a combination of digitisation (e.g., modelling, data & AI) and societal trends (e.g., energy transformation).
  • Domain Expertise: Providing subject-matter expertise in specific areas like High-Tech, information technology, sustainability, security and/or system engineering over the full product lifecycle.
  • Change Management: Driving successful organizational change, process improvements, and digital transformations.
  • Client Engagement: Managing relationships, understanding business, and delivering value-driven solutions.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Coaching individual leaders and team members, contributing to competence building (e.g., provide trainings).

What we expect from you

  • You have 15+ years in consulting, project management, leading R&D teams or relevant industry roles (high-tech preferred).
  • You have a master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • You are a goal-oriented and self-driven professional energized by delivering high quality results and willing to share and to learn from new experiences and your colleagues.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage complex personalities, result-driven "getting things done" mentality, and excellent communication (i.e., fluent Dutch and English).
  • You are passionate about helping improve the industrial systems engineering way of working by raising the relevant competences of individuals and teams.
  • You are familiar with systems architecting / systems engineering methods processes & required competences.
  • You are experienced in understanding multiple internal and external stakeholder needs and deriving them at different system abstraction levels.
  • You like capturing this in models, using MBSE and/or other model-driven approaches, fit for the purpose of modelling.
  • You have an affinity with the high-tech world and are fascinated by the role of human aspects in innovation and technology development. At the same time you are resilient in the face of organizational and operational difficulties that are part of the dynamics of the high-tech industry.

We offer a gross monthly salary between €5.951,- and € 7.945,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). The selection process

Please apply before the 14th of April, 2026. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
