From 15 to 16 hours, our experts Jaap Kiel and Paul Könst will give an update on the scaling up of technological development of bio-aromatics:

• 15:00 - 15:30 Thermochemical bio-aromatic applications - Jaap Kiel 
  TNO is piloting a new technology; thermochemical depolymerization of lignin and lignin-rich biomass. Recently, TNO has stepped up the application development, in close cooperation with a range of industry partners. Representative 1-10 kg-scale samples are being provided for screening tests. For BTX, we target bulk applications like plastics and coatings, but also niche applications like fragrances. For bio-aromatic rich oil fractions, we target bitumen, resins, coatings and fuel additives.
• 15:30 - 16:00 Sugar based bio-aromatic applications - Paul Könst 
  Biorizon co-initiator TNO has established platform technologies for the selective production of furanic and bio-aromatic building blocks. TNO unlocks the potential of its platform technologies by producing furanic building blocks for applications such as detergents and resins. And, by producing the next generation of bio-aromatics, such as bio-phenol and bio-aniline, for applications such as polycarbonates and insulation foams.
