The European process industry and energy sector are partly responsible for causing climate change. But, at the other hand, they can also make a major contribution to providing solutions. The European Industry and Energy summit strives to foster ideas, technology, plans & projects to address this challenge by bringing together all relevant parties and expertise from around Europe. The summit focuses on a variety of subjects such as emission-free hydrogen, chemcycling, Energy Efficiency and Industrial Transformation.
Sessions by TNO
TNO is contributing to the plenary opening and with several sessions on A Green Print for a sustainable industry and carbon capture, reuse and storage.
29 November: Plenary opening
Industry leaders Dirk Smit (Chief Scientist at Shell), Matthieu Guesné (CEO Lhyfe), Allard Castelein (CEO Port of Rotterdam), Loek Radix (Executive director Chemelot) and Frank Kuijpers (General Manager Corporate Sustainability at SABIC) will give their energizing vision on a sustainable industry.
As guests at the talkshow table we invite young professionals Juliana Moretz-Sohn (scientist TNO) and Jasper Meijering (Researcher at Clingendael International Energy Programme).
29 November: Industrial Transformation
Building back resilient, sustainable and competitive
In this session we will discuss opportunities and challenges with different market partners and come up with tailor-made solutions for a sustainable and circular industry.
The EU Green Deal has a high ambition and poses many challenges for the European Industry. Climate targets are getting stricter and have gained momentum in recent years. Decision makers want to know: how do I sustain and grow my business in this changing context? In this session we discuss opportunities and challenges with different market partners and come up with tailor-made solutions.
We will present their views and share their plans to become CO2 neutral and circular in 2030 and 2050.
- Presented by: Brigitte Jacobs Business Manager Energy Transition Industry at TNO
- On stage amongst others: Reinier Grimbergen (Principal Consultant TNO), Chantal Jorissen; Director New Business Development Niaga®, Jasper Meijering , Researcher at Clingendael International Energy Program (CIEP).
30 November: Energizing Talks

Get inspired
Producing renewable DME using renewable energy and CO2
The POWERED (Production Of Wind Energy And Other Renewable Energy Based DME) project focuses on the development of Sorption Enhanced DME Synthesis (SEDMES), a technology that produces renewable and recycled carbon DME as an alternative to fossil DME and LPG.

Symposium: NextGenHeat
We invite you to join our NextGenHeat symposium, a national symposium to address all heat-related challenges within the process industry.
The Netherlands: a global hub for hydrogen import, transport and storage
The first hydrogen chain from abroad to the Netherlands is a fact. Spain will become a major supplier of green hydrogen to north-western Europe and our country will play a hub role in further exporting.

Hydrogen developments in full swing in the energy and materials transition
What can we say about the future of green hydrogen? What role will it play in the energy transition in the coming decades? A conversation with TNO hydrogen experts Marcel Weeda and Lennart van der Burg provides some answers.

CO2 reduction and green carbon in industry
This is the time to reduce CO2 emissions and create new opportunities for a sustainable, circular industry. TNO experts present three innovative technologies that convert carbon and CO2 into sustainable products such as plastics, fuels and food.
