RESEARCH AREA

The focus of my research is on the use of human-assistive technology in work, in particular on industrial  exoskeletons to reduce the biomechanical and physiological loads on the human body in heavy work. The main research items are the sensing of the human intention, the control of the exoskeleton and the impact of design choices on the impact on the human body in terms of joint moments, internal forces and muscle activity.

RECENT RESULTS

Results of laboratory and field test are used to develop new prototypes in the area of exoskeletons. The main results concern (1) the quantified effects of passive and active back support exoskeletons on spinal compression in various tasks, (2) the development of new concepts for the design of a back-support exoskeleton, and (3) specification of sets of input parameters required for optimal control.
