Gastrointestinal research

TNO's unique gastrointestinal models, called TIM, are valuables tool in our gastrointestinal research.

The dynamic computer-controlled models facilitate research into medicines and foods. TIM is a prime example of TNO’s work to replace animal testing with alternative research tools. One of TNO's pharmaceutical customers was able to close a research facility with dogs and use the TIM model instead "It might look like a dog''s dinner, but this artificial stomach will save (canine) lives" (The Times, 8 January 2011).
