You’ll work in the Environmental Modelling, Sensing & Analysis (EMSA) department of the Circular Economy and Environment (CEE) unit. As a medior project manager, you’re driven to make an essential contribution to building our knowledge and market position in the field of circular electronics and the sustainable recycling of lithium-ion batteries and e-waste.

What will be your role?

You’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the projects aimed at developing new technologies to process electronic waste streams and the high-end recovery of strategic elements. You’ll provide input and contribute to a team of experts. As part of this team, you’ll work on (multidisciplinary) research and client projects.Project management will be your main task. However, you’re also highly capable of understanding and explaining the content of the projects. You’ll manage your project teams while being aware of the ambitions of your team members. Are you able to keep sight of the feasibility of a project while working with passionate scientists for whom the sky is the limit? At times, the opposite is true, as you’re required to go down a road the stakeholders disagree with, but which is necessary to resolve an issue. You’re able to bring projects to a successful conclusion, making sure they make an impact, while clearing the way for a sequel. Your focus herein is on the continuation of the research line and order flows.
Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:
•    You’re an enthusiastic and proactive team player with a scientific background in chemistry, chemical technology, materials technology, or similar.
•    You’re good at setting goals and feel energised when you achieve them.
•    You’re able to lead a project team of intelligent and driven professionals.
•    You have a passion for sustainability issues in a laboratory environment. (Experience directing laboratory work is considered an advantage.)
•    You’re interested in the circular economy and its chain approach.
•    You have experience taking on a supervisory role while shaping new (research) projects together with a team.
•    Experience with experimental research is an advantage.
•    Having a network in the circular economy/industry is an advantage.
•    Good oral and written communication skills are essential. We conduct research within international consortia in which English is the language of communication, even if the majority of our clientele consists of Dutch private-sector organisations and public authorities. Being able to speak and write in both Dutch and English (or the willingness to learn to do so in the very short term) is therefore a requirement.
•    You’re available 32-40 hours per week.

How do you want to contribute to tomorrow's world? How big can your impact be? Come and work at TNO and envision it.
