What will be your role?

You thrive on developing pragmatic solutions based on research, in which you put your modelling, simulation and system identification competencies to good use. Alternating between projects comes natural to you, as does interacting with partners and clients. Your communication skills and cultural awareness help you navigate sensitivities and motivate teams to obtain tangible results.

Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO: 
  • A Master’s Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or another relevant field. 
  • Expertise in (heavy-duty) powertrains and knowledge of hybrid drivetrains and electric components.
  • Experience of physics-based battery modelling and preferably of integrated control algorithms for batteries.
  • Experience of MATLAB/Simulink. If you haven’t yet gained experience of simulation tools typically used in the automotive industry, or of embedded software development, you are eager to learn. 
  • Excellent command of English, as you will be working in international teams.

What we expect from you

You’ll be working in multiple project teams with leading automotive partners, focusing on vehicle electrification technologies. Your work involves the implementation of physics-based battery models in demonstrators to optimize battery control, lifetime, performance and safety. You will also apply theoretical methods in proofs of concept. In addition, you will work on the application of energy management strategies for hybrid, battery and full cell electric vehicles. And calibrate and validate applied methods by full-scale laboratory testing.
