About this position

What will be your role?
You will be part of a team working on research, consultancy and business-to-business projects on topics such as groundwater head timeseries analysis, quantitative characterization of groundwater reserves, assessing impacts of climate change and other subsurface activities on groundwater, interpretation of hydrogeological data in relation to water supply, and balancing multiple subsurface uses while protecting groundwater resources for future generations.
A major part of your role will be related to the development and improvement of advanced groundwater information products, such as Grondwatertools, and connecting this to stakeholder demands. You will contribute to strengthening our research portfolio in the fields of groundwater stewardship. You will work in multidisciplinary project teams where your tasks include data acquisition and analysis, write academic texts as well as easy-to-read and concise reports.
You will be part of a research group with extensive expertise in hydro(geo)chemistry, hydrogeology and flow and reservoir modelling. You will be part of TNO Geological Survey of the Netherlands which is organised as a knowledge centre of the subsurface. With state-of-the-art public information, research and technology, you will contribute to a sustainable Netherlands.
What we expect from you
- A passion for applied hydrogeological research
- A completed MSc or PhD in hydrogeology, or similar
- Experience with data analysis and modelling, preferably with experience using GIS, Python and/or R.
- Creative and analytical thinking and a result-oriented approach
- Able to work in a multidisciplinary team, but also strong in getting things done independently
- Good communication skills, and eager to interact with a variety of stakeholders
- Good command of the English language, as you will be working with an international team and international partners. In addition, a good command of the Dutch language or the willingness to learn it.

We offer a gross monthly salary between € 3,497 and € 4,379 (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). The selection process
