Consultant Verantwoorde AI | Soesterberg
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Consultant Verantwoorde AI | Soesterberg at TNO in Soesterberg!
About this position
In a world full of AI hype, we are looking for something different: applications that work, that are sound, that matter. No abstract promises, but concrete solutions for real challenges in business and society. That is what you as a consultant at TNO contribute to. This is our time. Your impact starts here.
What will be your role?
As a Consultant Responsible AI, you work at the intersection of technology, practice and societal impact. You help companies and organisations realise valuable AI applications that are both ethical and effective. In challenging projects, you apply your skills to a wide range of questions, such as:
- How do we design an AI system in a way that encourages professionals to keep reflecting critically, for example when it is used for forming judgements about vulnerable groups?
- How do we analyse the added value and preconditions for deploying AI, for example to improve production processes and yields in greenhouses?
- How do we build a community around the Dutch AI Factory, so that SMEs and other organisations can get started with AI applications?
- How do we deploy and scale up sound AI solutions in IoT ecosystems, firmly rooted in semantic approaches, (e.g., using semantic standards like SAREF)?
You will become part of the Data Science expertise group, where we develop responsible AI that works. You engage with clients to get a clear picture of their challenges and needs. Based on this, you bring together the right colleagues, technologies and possibilities, and work on solutions that connect to practice. You always take into account the broader context and objectives of the client.
You combine client contact with substantive work: from gathering needs and thinking through solution directions to realising proof-of-concepts, in collaboration with technical experts. In addition to your role in ongoing projects, you also contribute to initiating new collaborations and projects.
What we expect from you
You have experience in advisory work and are up to date with the latest developments and challenges in AI. You have a technical affinity, but are also driven by making an impact with it. You are curious and have the ability to quickly absorb new content. You switch effortlessly between client questions, domain content and technological possibilities, and know how to translate client needs into concrete solutions. You are independent and proactive, and actively seek out collaboration.
Your profile:
- A university degree, for example in data science, AI, industrial engineering and management, or a comparable background.
- At least 3 years of work experience, preferably in a consultancy or advisory role.
- Knowledge of or experience with AI technologies, such as generative AI / LLMs, machine learning or knowledge graphs.
- Affinity with societal themes, such as sustainability and labour market shortages.
- Affinity with project-based working or project management.
- Willingness to work in Groningen when needed (in connection with the AI Factory).
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
- Experience with, or interest in, IoT technologies across smart homes, buildings and energy grids and how to valorize them in the Dutch market and Europe.
