Investing in new knowledge and skills is full of risks. This is why TNO takes a lot of care to ensure that this knowledge development responds to the needs of Dutch industry by involving entrepreneurs directly in the process and giving companies and institutions the opportunity to co-direct the R&D work of TNO.

The co-financing programme provides attractive opportunities for companies help produce innovations by becoming part of TNO’s knowledge development. The company brings in the practical knowledge and innovation need so that TNO can develop knowledge very specifically targeted at the application. In exchange for a relatively small contribution to the costs of research, the participating company acquires the first right of use to the accumulated knowledge with the possibility of making further agreements to acquire the exclusive user rights.
