TNO appoints Lotte de Groen as Market Director of TNO Vector
TNO is pleased to announce the appointment of Lotte de Groen as Market Director of TNO Vector. Having successfully steered the centre as acting Market Director since September 2025, Lotte brings more than 17 years of deep TNO experience operating at the intersection of innovation, market development, and societal transitions. She succeeds Wimar Bolhuis, who stepped down from the position following his nomination as a candidate for the Dutch parliamentary elections.

‘In an era of rapid technological acceleration, organizing momentum within complex ecosystems is crucial.’
Connecting analysis to real-world impact
In her new capacity, Lotte aims to further elevate TNO Vector as a definitive authority on innovation capacity within the Netherlands and Europe. ‘What drives me is connecting a sharp analysis of what innovation needs to thrive with a visible commitment to achieving breakthroughs in practice,’ Lotte states. ‘In an era of rapid technological acceleration, organizing momentum within complex ecosystems is crucial. Emerging developments in fields like AI demonstrate that our true challenge lies in pioneering the social, legal, and financial frameworks that allow technology to scale responsibly.’
Marc Zegveld, Managing Director of TNO ISP, expressed strong confidence in her permanent appointment. ‘Lotte is an exceptionally energetic connector who excels at forging the public-private coalitions necessary for complex transitions,’ says Zegveld. ‘Her proven ability to bring structural clarity, foster internal agility, and seamlessly align strategic analysis with market opportunities makes her the ideal leader to guide TNO Vector into its next chapter.’

Strategic priorities and track record
Lotte’s forward-looking strategic roadmap centers on three core priorities: sharpening market focus, securing long-term commitment on strategic portfolios, and fostering internal agility through distinct mandates and strong ownership.
Her professional history strongly supports this direction. Holding an MSc in Industrial Design from Delft University of Technology, she joined TNO in 2009. She subsequently served as the TNO-wide Coordinator for Orchestrating Innovation from 2019 to 2025, successfully managing 17 training cohorts. Furthermore, in her previous roles as business developer and deputy Research Manager, she spearheaded public-private coalition building for major industrial milestones, including the SMITZH initiatives and the BioBasedCircular program.
