Biobased and circular technology

I am the focal point for everything related to thermal conversion via gasification. I am interested in converting all kind of residues (biogenic, plastic or mixed) into useable product gas.

Through utilization of our extended R&D facilities we are capable of producing all kind of chemicals (BTX) and fuels. With gasification, cleaning and polishing we can make any type of syngas quality. Some great examples are methane from demolition wood, methanol from exhausted olive pomice and SAF from bagasse.

I coordinate the development of credible biorefinery processes aimed at total biomass utilization producing fuels, chemicals and biomaterials. I achieve this by combining and connecting required expertise’s, experts, suppliers and end-users to form the entire value chain. Circularity is achieved by depolymerising the materials back to their building blocks.

I am specialised in high temperature thermochemical conversion of materials, including biomass (woody, agricultural and food/feed residues and waste), fossil feedstocks and mineral materials. Also, the recycling of end-of- life materials, such as plastic/composites, is an important part of my work.

The thermochemical processes of my interest include pyrolysis, gasification and combustion. Also, sustainable high temperature heat for industrial processes belongs to my portfolio. This includes modern carbon-free fuels combustion such as hydrogen and ammonia, as well as electrification options primarily based on resistive heating.

My R&D focuses on all aspects of the conversion chain, including in-depth feedstock analyses, storage/feeding properties, thermochemical conversion performance characterisation and residues, including emissions (NOx, dioxins, PFAS).
