Henrik Cornelisson van de Ven

Henrik Cornelisson van den Ven's work focuses on unlocking biological information from the air. By combining airborne environmental DNA (eDNA), atmospheric science and data analysis, he develops new ways to monitor biodiversity, ecosystem change and biological risks at scale, and translate these biological signals into practical insights for environmental management, policy and research.
Henrik Cornelisson van den Ven believes eDNA will fundamentally transform the way we understand and manage the world around us. We are only at the beginning of this transition, and the opportunity to help shape a technology with so many future applications is what motivates him every day.
His core activities include the development of innovative airborne eDNA monitoring technologies, the design and validation of monitoring strategies and observation networks, and the translation of biological data into actionable information for policy, environmental management, and research. In addition, he initiates and coordinates national and international collaborations in the field of eDNA.
As interim secretary of the Dutch National eDNA Working Group (NeDNA), he actively contributes to the further development and adoption of eDNA in the Netherlands.
Feel free to get in touch with Hendrik to explore how eDNA can support better decisions in biodiversity monitoring, nature conservation, environmental policy, biosecurity, and other societal challenges.
