Scientist Radio / Wireless Communication | The Hague
Discover the challenge in wireless connectivity and innovation at TNO Networks. Combine your passion for hands-on hardware, deep software knowledge and client interaction in a role that shapes the future of 5G, 6G and beyond.
About this position
Are you searching for an exciting and inspiring role in the realm of wireless communication (for 5G, 6G and beyond)? Do you aspire to be part of a dynamic team at TNO Networks that not only pushes boundaries but actively pioneers new technologies? TNO presents you with an opportunity to fuse your passion for technology and connectivity as a Scientist Radio (Wireless Communication).
What will be your role?
As a Scientist Radio at TNO Networks, you'll tackle compelling inquiries that shape the future of wireless communication. On one hand, you'll be the driving force behind our own innovative research, such as the Future Network Services (FNS) and other national and European projects. Here, you'll collaborate closely with esteemed national and international universities and companies to develop the next generation of wireless technologies. You'll delve deep into research and development, exploring innovative solutions and elevating them to new standards.
On the other hand, you'll bridge the gap between technology and consultancy. You'll share your knowledge and expertise with clients like mobile operators, providing them with valuable insights. Imagine working on enhancing 5G technology and evaluating novel features. Your contribution would facilitate mobile operators in making their strategic decisions e.g. about how they may service their customers in a most environmentally sustainable manner. This is where your knowledge, expertise and consultancy skills make long-lasting societal impact.
What we expect from you
As a team player, you collaborate effectively, share knowledge, and remain open-minded. You possess strong consultancy skills and communicate clearly with clients. Moreover, you are capable of programming and have an interest in applying AI techniques to wireless communication. Travel and international collaboration hold no fear for you, and you're culturally aware and interpersonally skilled. You also have:
- Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- In-depth expertise in wireless communication, with a keen insight into advanced wireless technologies and protocols.
- A true gem: Experience or affinity with AI and machine learning, enabling you to adeptly apply these powerful tools to wireless communication challenges.
Within our radio team, we’re specifically looking to strengthen the bridge between hands-on hardware expertise (such as working with radio antennas) and more academic research into wireless networking. Ideally, you have experience with or a strong interest in the lower software layers of wireless networks, and familiarity with platforms like USRP (a software-defined radio platform we use in our JCAS testbed) would be a significant advantage.
We also value candidates who are interested in client-facing roles. Whether you already have consultancy skills or are motivated to grow into a technical consultant role, we encourage you to apply.
What you'll get in return
Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 3,385 and € 5,000 (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.
Perhaps you would like to grow your career in the direction of commerce or consultancy? Or would you like to become a project manager? Immerse yourself in sustainable innovations? Or carve out a career as a technical expert?
TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:
- An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
