The Strategy department plays a central role within TNO. It is responsible for developing, safeguarding, and translating TNO's organization-wide strategy into concrete plans and strategic priorities. As a Strategy Analyst, you play a key role in this process by connecting rigorous analysis with strategic decision-making and supporting the organization in making choices that drive TNO forward.
What will be your role?
As a Strategy Analyst, you will work at the heart of TNO's strategic decision-making. You will be part of TNO's Corporate Strategy Office and report directly to the Director of Strategy.
In this role, you connect insightful analyses with strategic decision-making, helping TNO navigate an environment where societal, technological, and organizational developments are constantly evolving.
You will support the development, execution, and monitoring of TNO's organization-wide strategy. You are able to break down complex strategic challenges into their core components, develop fact-based insights through analysis, and translate these into clear and actionable recommendations for senior management and executive leadership.
In addition, you will conduct strategic analyses often in collaboration with colleagues from different disciplines on a wide range of topics, including portfolio development, investment decisions, strategic partnerships, and organizational development. You will monitor relevant societal, technological, economic, and policy developments, translating these into strategic opportunities, risks, and recommendations for TNO. Working closely with stakeholders from across the organization, you will gain broad exposure to TNO's strategic priorities and contribute to decisions that shape its future.
What we expect from you
We are looking for a Strategy Analyst with several years of experience in strategy, management consulting, or a comparable analytical environment. Someone who is energized by solving complex strategic challenges and enjoys helping others make well-informed decisions.
You combine strong analytical capabilities with organizational awareness. You know how to structure complex issues, engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, and translate analyses into compelling insights and strategic recommendations.
In addition, you bring:
- A completed Master's degree from a research university.
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant work experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or a comparable analytical role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.

The selection process
Please apply before August 9th, 2026. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.
A certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.
As you will be working for clients in the domain of defence and security, a Certificate of No Objection issued by AIVD (the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory. This means you will have to undergo a security screening. Read more about security screening.
