About this position
What will be your role?
As a Consultant Computer Vision within the Intelligent Imaging research group, you build and maintain relationships with our key stakeholders in the security and defense domain. You are a welcome presence on our clients’ premises, and through this, you translate the opportunities you identify into projects together with our Business Developers and Scientists. In this way, you connect the client to TNO’s technology. You contribute to the development of ecosystems consisting of knowledge partners, industry, and government, aimed at strategic and long-term collaboration. You also help shape the projects within these ecosystems and explore how they can be funded. You actively participate in these projects yourself, which are partly focused on research and the development of new, innovative knowledge and technologies, and partly on short-cycle application of knowledge with clients from business, industry, and government. From time to time, you will also lead projects yourself.
The Intelligent Imaging expertise group is a young, passionate, creative, and committed team of professionals (55+ people) specializing in the development of groundbreaking applications in the field of computer vision. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from physics to artificial intelligence. Intelligent Imaging is a young and growing department where, over the past years, we have built extensive expertise in AI and deep learning. In both small and large projects, you will collaborate with colleagues from other expertise groups, within and beyond the defense domain. What we expect from you
As a consultant, you are able to turn resistance into opportunities by translating client challenges into innovative solutions. You are entrepreneurial, results-driven, perceptive, and a strong connector, and you are motivated to further develop these skills. Combined with strong advisory abilities, this makes you a valuable sparring partner within your network. You have experience leading projects and/or teams, or you are eager to develop this capability.
What you also bring:
- A completed degree in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a comparable field, with a proven affinity for computer vision and deep learning.
- At least ten years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or C++; you have a pragmatic mindset and a strong drive to make things work.
- Domain knowledge of the defense and robotics sector, along with a broad network and work experience with relevant stakeholders such as the police, defense organizations, DJI, or the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMAR), is a strong plus.
- Excellent command of both Dutch and English.

The selection process
Please apply before the 6th of July, 2026. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. The first interview is planned on the 20th and 22nd of July. The second interview is yet to be planned. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.
As you will be working for clients in the domain of defence and security, a Certificate of No Objection issued by AIVD (the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory. This means you will have to undergo a security screening. Read more about security screening.
