What will be your role?

You will be responsible for the functional (and partly technical) management and development of several experimental and communication networks supporting TNO defence research and the (inter)national security domain. These environments play a key role in exercises and interoperability experiments, involving not only TNO experts but also specialists from various national and international stakeholder (defence) organizations. These networks are unique in the way they deliver the required levels of availability and security.

In your role as Functional Administrator, you will also act as the main point of contact for the various users of these network environments, both within and outside TNO, nationally and internationally, regarding the required functionalities they support.

Together with your immediate colleagues, you will stay closely aligned with the latest developments in the defence domain and in network technology. You will translate these developments into the continuous improvement of the network environments under your responsibility.

What we expect from you

Your challenge:
As a Functional Administrator / Network Administrator, you work closely with fellow ICT experts as well as project leaders and users of the network environments you are responsible for. With your contribution, you play a key role in the success of international exercises and interoperability experiments.

Building knowledge:
At TNO, developing new knowledge is at the core of what we do. You will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in the latest technologies and research methods. In addition, we actively encourage knowledge sharing within the team and with international research partners.

What you bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree (HBO/BSc) in (Business) Information Technology, Information Science, Network & Security Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in functional and/or network management.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IPv4/v6 networking and routing protocols; experience with Linux and Enterprise Windows environments is a plus.
  • Proven experience with and knowledge of Cisco network technologies and network encryption equipment is a plus.
  • Programming skills, preferably in languages such as Python, C++ or Java, and a strong curiosity for new technologies are a plus.
  • A true team player with a proactive, can-do mentality.
  • Fluency in English, as you will work extensively in international teams.

Requirements:

  • Driving licence (Category B).
  • Dutch nationality (due to security clearance requirements).
  • Willingness to undergo a security screening.
  • Willingness to occasionally be on call during evenings and/or weekends.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 4.105,- and € 5.200,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
