Technology & Innovation Due Diligence Consultant

Want to make your mark on our time? Come work as a consultant at TNO in Delft!

About this position

TNO Fast Track helps start-ups and innovative SMEs scale their technologies along the Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). We leverage our expertise, facilities, and a network of over 4,000 experts to support companies with activities such as claim validation, proof-of-concept development, technical challenges, and long-term technology development.

A new initiative within TNO is the introduction of equity-based collaborations (under specific conditions), alongside the application of our technological expertise to provide technology due diligence services for public and private investors. These activities are currently being developed and represent a new proposition within TNO.

To support this growing practice, we are looking for a consultant who will help test, improve, and scale these propositions in practice.

What will be your role?

As a Technology Due Diligence Consultant, you will contribute to the development and execution of a new service offering within TNO Fast Track. You will play an important role during the pilot phase, where we will learn what works, what does not, and how this service can be offered in a sustainable and scalable way.

You will work closely with your team, TNO experts, start-ups, and investors, and support activities such as:

  • Conducting technology due diligence projects for start-ups;
  • Developing a practical approach, including methodologies, templates, and reporting formats;
  • Exploring collaboration opportunities with companies based on an equity-based model.

You combine analytical expertise with a hands-on mentality: you not only perform the work itself but also help shape and refine the service offering.

  • Conduct technology and vendor due diligence assessments for start-ups and emerging technologies;
  • Translate findings into clear reports and actionable recommendations;
  • Contribute to the development of a standardized approach and supporting tools (e.g., templates and frameworks);
  • Support the exploration and implementation of equity-based collaborations;
  • Collaborate with internal TNO experts to assess technical risks, opportunities, and technology roadmap decisions.

Identify improvement opportunities and actively contribute ideas on how this new proposition can grow and evolve.

What we expect from you

To be succesful in this role, you have:

  • A Master's degree (MSc) in a technical, business, or related field;
  • Approximately 4–7 years of experience in areas such as:
    • Technology consulting;
    • Venture capital or deal support;
    • Investments (experience with due diligence projects is a strong advantage).
  • Demonstrated interest in deep-tech, start-ups, and investments;
  • A strong analytical skills and experience in structuring information and preparing professional reports;
  • A hands-on mindset and enthusiasm for building and testing new initiatives;
  • The ability to work independently, with curiosity and confidence in engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
