Senior Business Developer Radar Technology

Want to make a mark on our time? Become a Senior Business Developer Radar Technology at TNO in The Hague!

About this position

Every working day brings something different, but one thing remains constant: as a Business Developer Radar Technology, you work closely with the Ministry of Defence, industry partners, other research organisations and your colleagues across TNO. You bring together our clients’ needs and the innovative capabilities of the Netherlands to create advanced radar solutions that make a real difference, while helping Dutch companies build a strong international position.

What will be your role?

Together with a team of colleagues at TNO, you will work on innovative solutions to realise ambitions and objectives in the field of radar technology for a wide range of military and civilian applications. You engage with national and international clients and the industries that support them. You take the initiative and turn ideas into concrete projects, with the aim of creating both economic and security impact for the Netherlands in the short and long term.

You do this by bringing together our scientific expertise and research facilities in areas including chip, antenna and signal-processing technologies, as well as our extensive knowledge of the defence and security domain. You focus on building long-term relationships with clients and industry partners, contributing to European strategic autonomy and a strong position for the Netherlands within Europe.

You explore the market and develop and initiate strategies that bring relevant stakeholders together to collaborate on concrete solutions. You work closely with your clients, who see you as a valuable and trusted advisor. You operate within various multidisciplinary teams, often taking the lead in developing new projects, while always working closely with other experienced colleagues.

You keep up to date with developments in the field, for example by attending national and international conferences, engaging with key stakeholders and regularly meeting with a broad range of clients. In this way, you contribute to the long-term readiness and effectiveness of the armed forces and to the security of the Netherlands in a rapidly changing world.

At TNO, you will join a team of experienced business developers within the Electromagnetics & Military Operations (E&MO) market team of the Defence, Safety & Security unit. Our goal? To increase the effectiveness of defence and security organisations by developing smart technological solutions within the electromagnetic spectrum and by conducting operational analyses of current and future military operations.

We also aim to contribute to a strong international position for Dutch industry. Our market team brings together colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experience. We rely on each other’s strengths and confidently hand over responsibilities when appropriate. There is plenty of room to learn and develop, we value enjoying what we do, and we are always willing to support one another. What brings us together is a shared enthusiasm for our profession and for the defence and security domain.

What we expect from you

Your interests lie in the world of sensor technology and security. You combine your relevant professional background or affinity with an entrepreneurial, social and enthusiastic attitude, and you are able to adapt quickly. You enjoy making connections and do so easily, acting as a natural connector between people and organisations.

In addition, you can easily switch between different communication styles and between national and international contexts. You provide structure and direction, for example in tender processes or partnerships with government and industry, and are able to think and work both from a long-term perspective and in terms of short-term actions.

You have an investigative and curious mindset and enjoy getting to the heart of complex problems. You use your creativity to bring together the right expertise from across TNO.

What else do you bring?

  • A completed university degree (WO), preferably in a technical field, or an equivalent qualification;
  • An interest in and understanding of modern technology, such as semiconductor or RF sensor technology;
  • At least five years of relevant work experience, for example as a consultant or business developer in the field;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant network in the defence and security domain and related industries;
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
