Transition pathways sustainable energy and circularity

We explore and substantiate realistic transition paths towards a carbon-neutral energy system and a circular industry. As a leading innovator, we develop knowledge and models that help policymakers and strategists make informed choices and develop targeted policies. We do this to benefit in the future from reliable and affordable energy and a thriving society that ensures prosperity within the limits of our planet.

Energy system in balance with systems integration

The great advantage of fossil fuel sources is that they provide a constant flow of energy. In contrast, the supply from renewable sources is very variable. To achieve this, we’re working on a wide range of energy storage and conversion technologies.

TNO provides unique quantitative models and frameworks regarding the energy and raw materials transition for, among other things, security of supply, sustainability impact and economic feasibility.

From the perspective of government and policy makers, it is crucial to promote social innovation in the energy transition by actively involving citizens. TNO plays a key role here, helping policymakers develop inclusive and effective strategies that contribute to a sustainable future.

Together, we work towards a future where everyone has a fair chance in the energy transition. Join our strong collaborations and research projects to increase and accelerate impact in the market together.
