The three-year Green Ports Partnership brings together Dutch and Brazilian public and private parties to promote collaboration, development, and energy projects. It’s a significant step toward fostering sustainable innovation in ports and energy infrastructure. This partnership is crucial for the energy transition in both Brazil and the Netherlands.

Representing TNO, CEO Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi signed the cooperation agreement in Brazil as part of the economic delegation led by Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Collaboration between the ports of Rotterdam and Pecém for sustainable energy projects

During the World Hydrogen Summit, Dutch and Brazilian public and private parties committed to the three-year Green Ports Partnership program. The goal of this partnership is to enhance collaboration, development, logistics, and energy projects between the Netherlands and Brazil.

Development of ports as hydrogen hubs

International ports play a key role in transporting and storing hydrogen as a raw material and energy carrier. Rotterdam, in particular, aims to become a major green hydrogen hub for the Dutch economy. The city seeks to be an international hydrogen hub for hydrogen production, import, application, and transit to other countries in Northwestern Europe. This large-scale hydrogen network can reduce CO2 emissions, ensuring that the port remains a driving force for the national economy.
