Internship | Battery Ageing Model Development for Electric Vehicles

About this position

The world needs powertrains with zero-environmental impact. We create them at TNO Powertrains. Do you want to be a part of this endeavour? Join us at the Automotive Campus in Helmond, and accelerate the energy transition today! Among the various research questions being tackled at TNO Powertrains, we aim to reduce the environmental impact and TCO of battery electric vehicles by extending the remaining useful life of batteries.

What will be your role?

Your assignment, should you choose to accept, is to join our team in developing advanced battery ageing models. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to delve into the intricate world of battery ageing, focusing on critical aspects such as charge profile effects. Your primary task will involve researching and developing battery ageing models that push the boundaries of innovation, enabling us to unlock new possibilities in battery management.

We expect a report and a final presentation of your work to the department colleagues. Further details of the assignment are open to discussion and will be determined in consultation with you. The length of the assignment is also to be adjusted according to the needs of your educational institution.

What we expect from you

  • You are a master student in a relevant field, for example automotive technology, electrical engineering or systems and control
  • Knowledge in Matlab/Simulink
  • You enjoy developing innovative solutions to technically challenging problems and have the right mix of intellectual curiosity and pragmatism.

  • A free membership of Jong TNO, where you can meet TNO-colleagues and join several activities, such as sports activities, (work-related) courses or the yearly ski-trip.
