About this position

TNO’s Healthy Living and Work unit is committed to creating key knowledge for biomedical health applications. For that aim, the unit counts with an extensive collaboration network both internally and externally, with (inter)national companies and governmental institutions. Within this context, the Metabolic Health Research department focuses on the development of disruptive technologies supporting the discovery, (pre-)clinical development and manufacturing of new therapeutic drugs. As a Hands-on Researcher Protein Synthesis you will get a unique opportunity within a cutting edge R&D program to support Pharma and Biotech industries making effective treatments accessible to patients faster and cheaper.

What will be your role?

We are looking for a Hands-on Researcher Protein Synthesis to join our dynamic and international team of researchers and scientists from different expertise fields. Within it, you will design and set-up new manufacturing technologies within an early research and market driven program.

You will be in charge of the design and performance of experiments; scale-up of bioreactions and/or bioprocesses including product characterization, as well as acquisition of required materials and equipment. You will actively participate in continuous scientific discussions, evaluation of results, follow-up proposals, experimental planning and literature search. With your work, you will help us transforming a research project at the interface of chemistry and biology into a successful new technology.

What we expect from you

To be considered for this position you must have a BSc, MSc or PhD degree in life sciences or chemical engineering with a strong background in protein science, biochemistry, bioprocessing or a related field. You have previous practical labexperience in genetic engineering, protein expression, purification, and biophysical characterization and/or biocatalysis. And you love hands-on work in the lab.

We are looking for a pro-active, pragmatic, and highly motivated colleague, who is eager to explore new ideas and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. Work will be performed preferably in English Moreover, you have good communication skills and passion for applied research.

The selection process
