Electrical Install Engineer | Petten

Want to make your mark on our time? Come work at TNO as an electrical install engineer in Petten!

About this position

Do you want to contribute to innovative measurement solutions for the next generation of wind turbines and the energy system as a whole? Do you have 2 right hands and are you not afraid to get them dirty? Then join TNO wind energy as an electrical install engineer!

What will be your role?

Being an electrical install engineer within the wind energy research group, you will use your electro-technical background on a day to day basis. For this you do not stay inside, nor with two feet on the ground.

Do you get excited by the thought of testing new prototypes of wind turbines with the purpose of mapping the loads and power of the turbine, or about installing sensors on a crane that may install the next generation of wind turbines offshore, then this is the perfect job for you. Together with a Lead Engineer, you work on measurement projects from beginning to end. You will be involved in making a measurement plan, the preparation of sensors and hardware in the lab and the actual installation in the field. During the measurement period you will contribute with the analyses of the measurement data and reporting out the results.

Besides those measurement campaigns you will also support the team with various lab management activities, to upkeep the high quality standards of our lab. Think of calibrating measurement equipment, ordering components, organizing/sorting equipment and many other things to keep the lab running smoothly.

All these activities, make the job very diverse and ensure a healthy balance between outdoor and indoor work.

What we expect from you

You are proactive towards picking up tasks and have good communicative skills. This is important as you are always working together with colleague engineers and other project team members. A very important aspect of your work is safety. As many fieldwork is performed on height, on water or in confined spaces you are aware of the risks and you take all the safety aspects of your job very seriously. And since work also depends on weather conditions, and the weather not always sticks to a nine-to-five mentality, you are required to be flexible. But that works both ways: you are given plenty of freedom in your working hours.

  • We are looking for someone with the following education, experience and capabilities;
  • a MBO or HBO-degree (Applied Sciences) in electro technical engineering;
  • Strong affinity with measurement equipment, including sensor installation and calibration;
