The high-tech industry is of particular importance to the Netherlands’ future economic growth and geo-economic position. 25 Years ago TNO entered the semiconductor industry by co-creating EUV lithography. Our portfolio expanded to collaborations on metrology and other equipment. With this background in the mature semiconductor market, TNO entered the field of quantum technologies 10 years ago, with our first European cloud accessible quantum computer ‘Quantum Inspire’ as a known milestone. As activities in this field pick up, both in the private and public sector, we look of expansion of our team. The Semicon & Quantum team will be your home base, and you will closely work together with lead scientists of TNO and partners. You will forge partnerships and attract funding to bring about profound change. You will grow to a self-propelling business developer enjoying building an international network, travelling, and visiting partners as leading industries and SME, both in the Netherlands and abroad. You will focus on quantum technologies, but in close collaboration with colleagues and partners in the adjacent semiconductor industry.

Based on our strategic roadmap and your interests, you’ll develop (new) markets, devise propositions and explore business models, including contract research and public-private partnerships. Matching TNO’s expertise with market challenges, you will identify, develop and convert opportunities. You will grow your network of national and international partners, ranging from SMEs to global industrial leaders. Extracting their needs, you’ll translate these into project opportunities. Working closely with TNO’s researchers and project managers, you’ll guide partners and clients to the project proposal stage, and manage the relationships. The technology portfolio you’ll be pitching at partners includes systems engineering for quantum compute systems, nanofabrication of qubits, metrology (and equipment) for such devices, our unique quantum device test facilities, quantum communication technologies, and quantum sensors for high-tech applications.

The ten-strong Semicon & Quantum Market Team is your home base. Together, we work on a multitude of challenges abroad and domestic, ranging from ultra-high cleanliness for EUV lithography and nanofabrication to quantum technologies. Ours is an open, fun and personal development environment and you will get all the room to explore your ideas to evolve. Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:

• A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience, preferably in a sales or business development role or the ambition to grow your career in this commercial role.
• Experience in high-tech industry, preferably the semiconductor industry, for instance in a business development or project management role.
• A keen interest in quantum (and semicon) technologies as you’ll be working closely with scientists and market experts, and a drive to learn what you don’t know.
• An action oriented personality and capable to explore ways to achieve results.
• A curious attitude will help you to understand the challenges of our customers and the potential of our technologies.
• A good command of English, as you’ll be working in international teams and with international partners.

We offer a gross monthly salary between € 4,000 and € 5,000 (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). Please apply before 27th of April 2024. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. The preliminary interview takes place in weeks 19 and 20. The second interview round has been scheduled for weeks 21 and 22. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
